WebMD Ignite, the leading full-service growth partner for organizations in the healthcare industry, today announced WebMD Ignite Ruby, a new agentic AI growth ecosystem designed to transform how health systems and other healthcare providers plan, execute and measure marketing.
WebMD Ignite Ruby brings specialized AI agents together across the healthcare provider marketing lifecycle to analyze markets and competitors, identify audiences, develop strategies, plan media, support campaign execution and continually optimize performance. Unlike general-purpose AI tools or agents focused on individual marketing tasks, WebMD Ignite Ruby connects these capabilities in a continuous workflow, allowing intelligence and outcomes from one stage to inform the next.
The launch comes as AI agents begin to fundamentally change how marketing work gets done. Marketing leaders expect the share of their work automated by AI to more than double from 16% in 2026 to 36% by 2028. For health systems and other healthcare providers, that shift comes as marketing teams are expected to identify growth opportunities, understand market and referral dynamics, reach priority audiences across channels, improve service-line performance and demonstrate the impact of marketing investments. These demands often span fragmented data, technology and vendor environments.
“AI agents give healthcare organizations an opportunity to make marketing more precise and more efficient by helping teams identify and reach the right audiences with the right message,” said Ann Bilyew, EVP, Health and President, Healthcare Solutions Group at WebMD Ignite. “That precision can help marketers make better use of every dollar they spend, while agents can also take on work that has traditionally required significant time and resources. WebMD Ignite Ruby combines agents with healthcare intelligence and connects them to work together toward a common objective, while keeping marketers in control of the decisions that matter.”
Beginning with a marketer’s objective, WebMD Ignite Ruby can analyze market and referral dynamics, identify high-value audiences, assess competitors and media activity, model channel allocation and develop a recommended strategy. Additional agent modules support campaign configuration and activation, conversion and continuous optimization and ROI measurement, creating a connected path from identifying an opportunity through measuring its impact. The broader product vision spans 11 agent-powered capabilities across strategy and planning, campaign orchestration, connected conversions, and optimization and ROI reporting.
A critical differentiator is the intelligence behind those agents. WebMD Ignite Ruby is designed to combine WebMD Ignite proprietary healthcare-specific data and market intelligence with a healthcare organization’s own approved data and other sources, giving its agents context that general-purpose AI lacks. The WebMD Ignite data environment includes 2.7 billion deidentified healthcare encounters from more than 400 EMR feeds and predictive models spanning more than 650 clinical conditions.
The ecosystem can also draw on market share and referral intelligence, historical campaign performance, media and competitive intelligence and other healthcare-specific signals to sharpen recommendations around where opportunities exist, which audiences to reach and how marketing dollars should be deployed. By connecting these signals to campaign performance and measurement, the ecosystem is designed to help marketing teams move from insight to action and understand what is driving results.
The intelligence is designed around healthcare’s stringent privacy requirements, as WebMD Ignite operates as a business associate under a BAA. WebMD Ignite Ruby can incorporate approved health system or provider organization data to deliver deeper analysis, more precise audience insights and more informed recommendations. Individual-level identifiers are blocked from agent outputs, while small-cell suppression further protects aggregate results. Every figure generated by the analytical agent is also designed to trace back to the underlying query, including the filters and time period used, creating an auditable path between an AI-generated recommendation and the data supporting it.
The model can also change the economics of how healthcare providers use their marketing resources. WebMD Ignite Ruby includes media mix modeling (MMM) that can generate more precise, localized recommendations about where marketing dollars should be spent, helping teams make better use of their media budgets without requiring a separate MMM tool. It also consolidates capabilities that often sit across multiple systems while shifting time-intensive work such as market research, audience analysis, planning, campaign setup, reporting and optimization to specialized agents. Together, those capabilities can reduce technology and labor costs while allowing provider organizations to manage more marketing activity with the resources they already have.
For healthcare providers that want additional support, WebMD Ignite Ruby can be paired with WebMD Ignite Agency Services to help turn agent-generated intelligence into campaigns. The model allows agents to take on more of the repetitive work behind analysis, planning, configuration and reporting while WebMD Ignite specialists focus their time on strategy, creative, media and implementation. Organizations can use the technology directly or combine it with WebMD Ignite expertise based on their resources, goals and support needs.
Human oversight remains embedded throughout the ecosystem. Rather than operating as an unconstrained autonomous agent, WebMD Ignite Ruby is designed to perform analysis within defined stages and return consequential decisions to marketers for review and approval before advancing. The underlying decision framework similarly calls for the agent to enforce applicable privacy rules rather than requiring individual marketers to keep track of them independently.
As campaigns run, the ecosystem is designed to connect performance back into the intelligence that informed them. Agents can analyze results against benchmarks, surface optimization opportunities and help determine how marketing investments could be reallocated. This creates a feedback loop in which campaign results inform subsequent recommendations, helping marketing teams continually refine strategy, optimize performance and better understand the impact of their investments.
WebMD Ignite Ruby will initially focus on health systems, with capabilities expanding across activation and optimization as additional agents become available. Healthcare providers interested in learning more can connect with WebMD Ignite at webmdignite.com/ignite-agent- interest-form.
